Create an account

Would you like to have an account on Backyard Deer Deterrents?  The benefits of an account are three-fold:

  • You can post comments without waiting for me to approve them.
  • You can share information about your deer problems or solutions on a user page.
  • I'll remember who you are.  (Because it's really all about me...)

How to create an account
Creating an account is very easy.  Just click here, fill in your user name and password, and click the "create account" button at the bottom of the page.  On the next page, enter your user name and password again and click "log in."

How to create your own personal user page
Once you have your account, creating your user page is simple.  Right after logging in, you'll end up on your preferences page, at the top of which is a link for "create your user page."  Click there, type in information about yourself, then click "save page" and you're done!

If you want to go back and edit your page, just go to your user page (http://www.backyarddeer.com/users/yourname where "yourname" is your username).  Then scroll down to the bottom of the page (outside the white and in the green) and click "Edit".  As long as you're logged in, you'll be able to edit your page.

If you want, you can copy and paste html into your user page to assist in formating.  That will let you add a picture of yourself that you have up elsewhere on the internet, or links to your primary website(s.)  (Please don't turn your user page into a link farm, though, or I'll have to shut it down.)  If this paragraph doesn't make any sense to you, but you'd still like an image on your user page, just email it to me and I'll take care of it!

A few words of caution
Right now, the user pages are open to be edited by anyone with an account.  That's because I'm not very technical and I trust all of my readers to play nice.  Please don't edit someone else's user page without permission.

That's all!  I'm looking forward to seeing some exciting new user pages!
